TTUB wins first award

On February 28, 2026, Tire-toi une bûche had its first official screening at Ten Short Films, an independent local showcase in Kitchener, Ontario, hosted and organized by filmmakers Tara Mühlberghuber and Charles Paquin. The screening was held in loving memory of local artist Beatrix Mühlberghuber.

After nearly two years since completion, this marked the film’s first public screening in front of both audiences and industry guests.

Director and writer Béatrice Richer expressed how meaningful the moment was for the film’s release into an audience setting: “I was extremely grateful and excited for the film to finally receive its first public exposure and to have the opportunity to screen in front of an audience. It was also quite nerve-wracking, as it had never been shown to strangers before, which made seeing it on a big screen for the first time a surreal experience. It was really meaningful and reassuring to see that it resonated with audiences and that the reactions felt so engaged and genuine. I’m deeply grateful to Tara and Charles for organizing this wonderful event and for including Tire-toi une bûche in such a meaningful showcase.”

The film was also awarded the People’s Choice Award and will continue its run with an upcoming screening at the next Ten Short Films edition in Ottawa in May.
